This live ministry session will be valuable for anyone wanting to learn intermediate-advanced Immanuel Approach principles and techniques. You will learn to recognize subtle internal-parts phenomena, and you will see Dr. Karl demonstrate a number of intermediate-advanced techniques, including techniques for working with dissociated trauma and dissociated internal parts. It will also be encouraging and faith-building to watch Jesus provide beautiful, profound healing work.

And here's a quick summary of the session: In this 2019 session, we work with an internal child part and the recipient becomes consciously aware of sexual abuse memory pieces that were previously totally dissociated. Dr. Lehman helps Kay stay connected to Jesus through every aspect of the traumatic memories, and the close connection to Jesus clearly augments Kay’s capacity, enabling her to stay connected in places where she had previously dissociated. This session includes a particularly interesting and profound piece, where Jesus places Himself between Kay and the perpetrator, “like He was on the cross,” and shows her that although He did not stop the perpetrator, He protected her soul by absorbing the evil of the trauma into Himself. At the three-month follow-up interview, Kay reports that she can now recall the previously dissociated traumatic memories, she reports that the false negative cognitions (lies) and negative emotions associated with the trauma are much less powerful, and she reports that it continues to feel true that Jesus protected her soul through these traumatic events.

Dr. Lehman is a board-certified psychiatrist with thirty years and more than forty thousand hours of clinical experience. He has worked tenaciously throughout his career to integrate his personal Christian faith with medical science, modern mental health care, and his rigorous scientific training; and he has especially worked to integrate faith-based emotional healing with insights provided by psychological and neurological research. Working closely with Dr. E. James Wilder, Dr. Lehman developed the Immanuel Approach.

In addition to observations from his clinical work, regular consultation with colleagues, and extensive ongoing study of a wide range of research literature, Dr. Lehman is also deeply committed to his own growth and healing. He is constantly learning through the application of emotional healing principles and tools in his personal journey. Furthermore, Dr. Lehman has been married for more than twenty-five years, and he and Charlotte work as a team to apply everything they learn about growth and healing in the context of their marriage. This combination of decades of clinical experience, extensive ongoing study, regular collaboration with colleagues, and regular emotional healing work in his own life has provided an especially strong foundation from which to discover important new insights.

Karl and Charlotte live in Evanston, Illinois. They have enjoyed many books together as Charlotte reads out loud while Karl washes the dishes, and they have a larger collection of nature documentaries than the local library. Charlotte is a runner and completed the Chicago Marathon in 2008. Karl especially enjoys the beauty of creation as manifested in his salt water aquarium.
